Max helps care for his younger brother, Leo, assisting with daily tasks and communication, ensuring that he is safe in different environments. Max’s Mum has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour, which has meant that Max has to be a strong pillar of support to his family at 12 years old.
Home life is disturbed by Leo’s ASD and sleep patterns. Mums illness can make Max feel withdrawn and low in mood and he doesn’t like to go out with his friends to play as he worries about his Mum and Brother at home. Instead, he prefers to play online with his friends. He doesn’t attend any clubs or sleepovers.
Max wrote and asked the genie for a gaming VR headset;
“I’d like to wish for a VR headset because I could share the VR with Leo, teach him how to play, and we could spend some time together playing games.”
“It would also give me something to escape to with my friends online when I’m feeling down or just want some alone time. I would be really happy to get a VR headset. It would give me something that we could all play together. “
