Scarlet loves Christmas so we were thrillied to send her to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.
Mums Story;
“Scarlet and her twin sister Elyssa were born early, at 30 weeks and 5 days. Scarlet weighed 4lb 13 ounces and Elyssa weighed 2lb 13 ounces. The birth was problematic, and Scarlet sustained a head injury on delivery. This resulted in her having to be resuscitated twice, and we had her christened a few hours after she was born. We were told she was so poorly she wouldn’t even be able to smile.
Due to her brain injury, she has right-sided hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy; she is partially sighted; she has ADHD; she has severe anxiety; and she has OCD. She has had surgery to correct her foot and has regular Botox injections to try and help her muscles relax. There is potentially more surgery planned. She must have regular, lifelong physiotherapy and wear an electrical stimulation device to also help her muscles. Scarlet must attend many hospital appointments and has lots of medical professionals involved in her care; hospital appointments are extremely challenging for Scarlet as she also has Emetophobia (an extreme fear of vomiting).
Her sister, who was the smaller twin, having been diagnosed with Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome during the pregnancy, has suffered from quadriplegic cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, and 5 years ago was diagnosed with epilepsy.
Despite all her challenges, Scarlet pushes on regardless; she is also a very determined young lady. She is kind, caring, and funny. She attends school regularly despite the COVID pandemic increasing her anxieties further. She wants to go to college to study animal care.
Scarlet absolutely loves Christmas, and her wish is to go to Winter Wonderland in London. She has wanted to go for many years; however, it is difficult to spend quality time with the children individually due to their differing needs and the level of care required.
Scarlet and Mum were put up in a lovely hotel Amba Hotel Marble Arch and enjoyed a fun packed day In the park. Many treats were consumed and laughs had.
